Michael began his radio career at the age of fifteen, doing 4-H Community Event reports on Saturday mornings on KVRE 101.7 FM in Santa Rosa, California. He got his first real deejay experience at his college radio station, KCPR 91.3 FM, at Cal-Poly in San Luis Obispo, California, and has been hooked ever since.
Michael was the producer for the Alan Stock Show and the Dr. Carla Perez Show on KSRO 1350 AM in 1993. While working at KSRO, he was also a news reporter and writer.
Michael was one of the first deejays on KRSH 95.9 FM “The Krush” when it debuted in Santa Rosa in 1994.
Michael took on the name “Doc” during his popularity as a deejay on rock station KXFX 101.7 FM “The Fox” in Santa Rosa. During his nine years at the Fox, from 1994 to 2003, he held duties as the morning show host, midday host, afternoon drive host, and evening host. Doc was also the midday host on sister station KMGG “Magic” 97.7 FM from 2001 to 2003.
In 2003, KVRV 97.7 FM “The River” made its debut in Sonoma County, and Doc was one of the original deejays.
He was, to say the least, ecstatic.
“I love classic rock. These were the songs that I grew up with. These were the bands I saw in concert and the albums that I bought. I feel like one of the luckiest people on earth to share this music with listeners who appreciate it as much as I do.”
Doc can be heard on KVRV 97.7 FM “The River” every weeknight from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight. He is also is the host for “The Perfect Ten” every Thursday night at 8 p.m. and “Dead Before Bed” every weeknight at 10 p.m.
